COVID-19 Statement
May 6, 2020Forestry and Land Scotland are diverting the Southern Upland Way at Hog Park Stand, east of Clatteringshaws, starting from the April 2020 due to tree felling. They will make every effort to complete the felling as quickly as possible within 3 months to reduce the diversion time, and then manage the extraction with operator vigilance looking out for SUW users.
Temporary SUW Waymarker posts (4 in total), have been dug in along the diverted route which is marked in dark blue on the attached map. These are not as frequent as normal, and have only been placed at the main junctions. The diversion will bring you back to the bottom of Waterside Hill, Dalry. It is on forest roads and quiet back roads, and is suitable for bike, horse and walkers giving good views of the Galloway Hills.
A temporary Kist has also been placed on the diversion, and is marked as normal with ULTREIA markers on the Eastern and Western side of the Kist.
