COVID-19 Statement

Southern Upland Way

July 15th

In line with many other Scottish Long Distance Trails activities we have gradually reopened the SUW from 3rd July 2020 as the 5 mile guidance on travel was relaxed for most of Scotland along with self-contained holiday accommodation (3rd July) and outdoor hospitality (6th July).

Some services and accommodation providers have started reopening from July 15th but it is essential for you to check with each business, book ahead and check latest guidelines before setting out. Please do not expect everything to be back to normal – follow latest guidance on physical distancing, face masks and hygiene, be sensitive to local communities and do not meet in large groups.

Bothies are still officially as closed as they are classed as public buildings.

As of Friday the 10th July 2020 facemasks are mandatory in Scotland within shops and possibly other businesses.

May 6th

You should not travel to make use of the Southern Upland Way as the government is advising against non-essential travel during the current pandemic. For more information about using the countryside for exercise please go to the Scottish Outdoor Access Code website.
