Mainholm Bridge Closure

Unfortunately the Mainholm Bridge over the River Annan near to Hoddom Castle has been closed. This is a private bridge that is owned by the Hoddom and Kinmount Estate. An engineering report on the bridge undertaken by the estate has deemed it to be unsafe and the estate have therefore closed the bridge.

Currently the only diversion possible for Annandale Way users is to follow the road along the B723 to Hoddom Bridge where you can rejoin the route. Please be aware that the B723 is a fast road and great care should be taken if walking along it.

We are looking at alternative diversions for this section of the route that avoid the road and will post these as soon as possible.
