The Old Military Road

Across Scotland are small country roads called the Old Military Road. These are often called Wades Roads after General Wade who built many of them but the ones in Dumfries and Galloway have a slightly different history to those in the Highlands. There is a short section of the Southern Upland Way near Stranraer where the path follows the Military Road for a short distance.
